Fleurieu Peninsula travel guide
We quickly fell in love with South Australia after travelling around the Flinder Rangers. After spending a considerable amount of time in the Australian outback we were craving some time by the ocean and the Fleurieu Peninsula delivered what we needed. From dramatic coastal drives to quiet beaches, historic towns, world-class wineries and much more.
Where to camp:
By far our favourite low-cost camping in this area is Rapid Bay. For $25.00 per night, you can camp right on the beach or further back on the grass. There are flushing toilets, bins, direct beach and jetty access. This is a great base for exploring the area.
BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks - Port Elliot is perfectly situated between two beaches and an easy walk into town. The park has all the facilities you would want and has nice grassy and shady sites for roughly $42.00 per night unpowered.
Deep Creek National Park, Cobbler Hill is a stunning little campground with compositing toilets, private sites, beautiful views, and wildlife and is a great starting point for many hikes. Vehicle entry into the national park is $13.00 per vehicle and camping for $25.00 per night.
Breakaway Farm Stay is a much more affordable option than staying in Victor Harbour caravan parks. Camping for $25.00 per night with hot showers, flushing toilets, camp kitchen, fire pit and surrounded by animals.
This is just a glimpse of the things to do and see along the Fleurieu Peninsula. You should allow 7-10 days to thoroughly explore this beautiful area but can cover a lot in 3-5 days if time does not allow. After the Fleurieu Peninsula be sure to spend some time in Adelaide, Adelaide Hills or venture further to the Limestone Coast.
